On September 20, 2024, the Korea Atomic Industrial Forum (KAIF) signed a revised Memorandum of Cooperation (MOC) with the Czech Power Industry Alliance (CPIA) during the Korea-Czech Nuclear Full-Cycle Cooperation Agreement Ceremony held in Plzeň, Czech Republic. The ceremony was attended by President Yoon Suk-yeol of South Korea and Prime Minister Petr Fiala of the Czech Republic.
The MOC was signed by Mr. Baekshik Roh, Executive Vice President of KAIF, and Mr. Milan Simonovsky, Chairman of CPIA and former President of Sigma Group.
This renewed agreement aims to identify and develop business collaboration opportunities between Korean and Czech companies, particularly in support of joint supply chain development for nuclear equipment and components.
CPIA is an alliance of 18 major Czech nuclear suppliers and first signed an MOU with KAIF in 2017. The signing of this revised MOC marks a renewed commitment to mutual cooperation, and both organizations are expected to play a key bridging role between companies of both countries as the Czech Republic moves forward with its plans for new nuclear power plant construction.
